Short and quick historyByteact Hosting was formally established on August 9th, 2007, as my second (possibly third) endeavor into the web hosting market and my first into the free web hosting market. The gauge for success for me was in getting 50 active users within two months, and when that goal was met, I knew we were on to something worth continuing and I put up a bit of my hard earned cash from my day job toward expansion.
On November 5th, 2007, we expanded and established i.create Hosting targeting another segment of the free hosting market which, in the beginning ran on its own with little to no formal ties between the two firms until we merged the support backends under the iByte moniker. In order for the merge to be successful we also placed both operations under the iByte Free Hosting Network moniker and deployed a blog and joint forum for the communities.
Time went on and more users started to join, of course with growth also comes growing pains so one of our network providers gave us an overview of a plan to remedy the problem which was quite intensive to implement but afterward, well worth the time, effort and issues that arose out of putting it into place. We are still improving the backend architecture as I write this by moving different functions onto their own clusters such as graphics, PHP rendering/processing and static content to improve speeds and eventually enhance and debut more improved features.
Shortly after New Year's, we began to look to expand again offering more services to our members which resulted in Byteact Domains, a domain registration service aimed both towards our members looking for their own domain and towards anyone in general seeking a domain of their own among other services.
In June, we brought everything together and formalized the iByte moniker by establishing iByte Networks which covers Byteact Domains, Byteact Hosting and i.create Hosting as well as working to provide more services.
