I signed up with the url "http://rappyro.byteact.com" and I uploaded a .rar to the filepath "/htdocs/patch/" with the filename "patch.rar". So I'm lead to believe the full URL to access the .rar is http://rappyro.byteact.com/htdocs/patch/patch1.rar, am I right? Whenever I enter this in my URL bar, it doesn't download. Can anyone explain to me why?

The link would actually be: http://rappyro.byteact.com/patch/patch1.rar

The htdocs folder, while it is a legitimate folder in your root directory is the docroot for your site with the domain name rappyro.byteact.com pointing to the contents in that folder.

On a side note, due to previous abuse issues involving the use of RAR files including people using our services solely as a file hosting service, requests for RAR files are now redirected to Google. I do however recommend that you look into a file hosting service such as DivShare for hosting such files and then using the links provided by DivShare to link the content to your website.
